Be Afraid and Do It Anyway with Brené Brown

Brené Brown and Sam Lamott sit down to talk about moving through fear, the power of vulnerability, and letting go of shame.

In her words:

I’m a research professor at the University of Houston where I hold the Huffington Endowed Chair. I’ve spent the past sixteen years studying courage, vulnerability, empathy, and shame. I’m the author of four books: The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, Rising Strong, and Braving the Wilderness.

The bottom line: I believe that vulnerability – the willingness to be “all in” even when you know it can mean failing and hurting – is brave. I do NOT believe that cussing and praying are mutually exclusive. And, I absolutely believe that the passing lane is for passing only.

  1. This meant so much to me! My new mantra is Boundaries not Vilification. It clarifies how I’m feeling. I’ve been confused by my inability to hate my bully. I’m move g forward now.

  2. Just found Hello Humans scrolling Instagram and listened because I’m familiar with Brene’ Brown. I’ll be going back to listen to all previous episodes. Thank you! Keep putting good content out there!

  3. Sam & Brene: That was crazy good stuff! I am so grateful that I stumbled upon the link to this (thanks, @annelamott!) and that I made the choice to listen. It was so wonderfully enjoyable… felt like I was a fly on the wall, listening in on a private conversation. A truly encouraging, be a better person, start now, wherever you are, you can do it kind of conversation! So many great lines and quotes that I’ll have to listen again and take notes! Sam- thank you so much for inviting Brene to do this and for asking great questions! Brene- thank you for saying yes! I almost bought one of your books a couple of weeks ago but my card was expired (oops) and I haven’t been back to the bookstore. That changes tomorrow!
Loved every minute of this. Thank you both… again!

  4. Thank you for this! I follow Dr. Brown‘s work religiously and her messages never get old. Doing Grounded Theory research myself she is one of my „people I don’t know and still come for advice to“ both personally and professionally.

  5. Sam I have enjoyed the three podcasts including this one with Brené Brown. You have such a relaxed style when interviewing your guests. You’re doing a great job. Thank you!

  6. I often visit your website and have noticed that you don’t update it often. More
frequent updates will give your website higher
authority & rank in google. I know that writing articles takes
a lot of time, but you can always help yourself with miftolo’s tools which will shorten the time of creating an article to a couple of seconds.
