Becoming Whole with BJ Miller
Show Notes:
At 19, while in his sophomore year of college, BJ was electrocuted and subsequently became a triple amputee. Undaunted, BJ returned to Princeton to study art history and eventually decided to focus on medicine, which ultimately led him into palliative care. Palliative care is a specialty that focuses on patients with life-limiting and terminal illnesses, it requires an intimate knowledge of death and a heart that is courageous enough to look into the darkest corners of ourselves to find out what we are ultimately living for. The famed German poet Rainer Maria Rilke wrote, "Let everything happen to you, beauty and terror, just keep going, no feeling is final,"
BJ is the living embodiment of this idea.
